The Cairngorm’s national park is about an hours drive from the Croft. We regularly travel over for the day to ski or walk. The drive over the Lecht is superb on a motorbike or car, offering some of the best driving roads in the country. Or anywhere.
Aviemore is the hub of activity with lots of restaurants and outdoor shops. The skiing at Cairngorm or the Lecht is good with the Scottish ski club hut on the mountain. There are fantastic mountain bike trails around Loch Morlich with are suitable for all ages. There are lots of walks and hikes around Aviemore. Loch Insch Watersports centre is good for windsurfing and sailing, it also has a good restaurant.
Glenmore Lodge, Scotland’s National outdoor training centre is based here offering courses in mountain craft, mountain biking, ski touring..it’s also got a pretty good restaurant.
Aviemore restaurants are good but can get quite busy, the mountain cafe is one of our favourites with lots of interesting dishes but expect to queue, the Ski Doo is fun for burgers and American type food.
